Christmas On Gladstone!

There was definitely Christmas spirit in the hallways of YCS last night. "Christmas on Gladstone" was lots of fun! Families enjoyed making crafts, singing carols and going on a hayride. The evening was full of different fun activities! Thank-you for coming Grade One's!

Red and Green Day

In Math the Grade One's were introduced to the words "more" and "fewer". We got into groups today and participated in an activity. Notice lots of the kids are wearing red and green :)

Goodbye, We Will Miss You!

We had to say goodbye to one of our students today. He will moving and going to a different school. Class 1.2 wishes you the best of luck!

Writing Activity with Class 1.1

Mrs. Ivanochko and Mrs. Ruf modeled how to write a story with a partner. The Grade 1's were partnered up and started writing a Christmas story. We are almost finished the stories and hopefully tomorrow we will be able to share the stories.

Day 1 At The Street Market

The hallways were very busy today. The first day of the street market took place at 12:20. Students filled the hallways selling their unwanted belonging to raise money for Angels Anonymous. The Grade 1's enjoyed it! It was so neat!

Christmas Wreaths with Buddies

It is day 5 on the Good Spirit School Calendar and that means we get to spend time with our Grade 8 buddies. We cut out and traced Christmas wreaths. We will continue them next day 5.

Snowmen at Night!

The Grade One's made their own snowman using construction paper. We have a snowman that is a French artist and we also have a snowman that is a detective. Very creative! Grade One's also enjoyed our experiment in science. We learned about the sense of smell.

Marlene from the TD bank came into the classroom and read a book to the Grade One's. She read the book "Caramba" which is a part of TD's Grade One Giveaway. Thank-you Marlene.

YCS Generosity Card

Today, the Grade One's talked about being generous. The YCS students are encouraged to share an act of random generosity. We came up with examples of being generous. For example, helping mom do the dishes, shoveling the neighbours sidewalk, etc. *Give the card to the person you helped out.

I Can Make 10 and 14!

In Math, we discovered many different numbers can make the number 10 and 14.  Good job Grade One's!
